A long time ago Pada zaman dahulu , there was a rich old man living in Vietnam. He had two sons. They had very different attitudes sikap . Because he was greedy serakah , he asked his wife to make a much longer bag. When the bag was done, he climbed on the raven’s back and then they flew to the place full of gold. He filled the big bag with gold. He also brought some gold in his pockets. On the way home, the load barang bawaan soon became too heavy for the raven. Unable to hang on, the raven swayed oleng , and the greedy brother fell straight down to the sea with his bag and pockets full of gold. He sank tenggelam very fast down the sea. The older brother finally died. He died because of his greediness keserakahan .

Pohon Buah Belimbing Emas 

 Dahulu kala, ada seorang lelaki tua kaya raya yang tinggal di Vietnam. Ia memiliki dua anak laki-laki. Mereka punya sikap yang berbeda. Kakak sangat serakah, sedangkan adiknya sangat baik hati. Ketika ayah mereka meninggal, harta dibagi menjadi dua. Kakak mengambil hampir semuanya, hanya memberi adik sebidang tanah kecil dengan pohon belimbing di depannya. Sayangnya, seekor gagak besar sering datang dan memakan semua buah matang. Awalnya adik takut, tapi suatu hari ia berani mendekat dan memohon agar gagak tidak memakan buahnya. Gagak tidak marah, malah berkata akan membayarnya dengan emas jika ia membawa karung sepanjang 1 meter. Adik menuruti, mengisi karung dengan emas, lalu hidup bahagia dalam kemewahan. Saat peringatan kematian ayah mereka, kakak diundang ke rumah adik. Awalnya ia menolak, tapi akhirnya datang dan terkejut melihat adiknya sudah kaya. Ia pun menukar seluruh hartanya dengan pohon belimbing. Namun karena serakah, ia membuat karung yang sangat panjang, mengisi terlalu banyak emas. Burung gagak tak kuat terbang, dan kakak jatuh ke laut bersama emasnya. Ia mati karena keserakahannya.

Hi Guys, it's good to see you again. Kali ini ESE akan membahas jenis-jenis karangan. Tentu saja penggunaannya dalam bahasa Inggris. OK then, Let's get it on!

Pada pembahasan kali ini ESE akan membahas karangan yang berjenis Narrative Text. Jenis karangan ini menjadi sebuah karangan yang akan Anda temui hampir disetiap tugas kebahasaan. Dalam hal ini bahasa Inggris, karangan ini termasuk kedalam Reading Comprehension. Pada soal-soal latihan TOEFL, IELTS, atau tes-tes bahasa Inggris lainnya jenis karangan ini akan sering Anda jumpai.

Secara garis besar Naratif Teks atau dalam bahasa Inggris Narrative Text, adalah sebuah karangan yang menceritakan sesuatu hal atau seseorang dengan tujuan untuk menghibur atau memberikan informasi mengenai suatu hal.

Pembahasan kali ini ESE akan membahasnya sejelas mungkin agar kalian dapat memahaminya, baiklah yuk simak penjelasannya.

Tujuan dari narrative text adalah untuk memukau atau menghibur pembacanya dengan sebuah cerita.

Kerangka dari Narrative Text

Dari berbagai sumber yang ESE dapatkan. Akhirnya ESE simpulkan bahwa kerangka atau struktur dari Narrative Text adalah:

Orientation

Bagian ini adalah tentang perkenalan, apakah itu perkenalan tokohnya atau hal yang akan dibahas lebih lanjut.

Complication

Bagian ini adalah mulainya sebuah permasalahan atau krisis yang dihadapi para tokoh atau tempat tersebut.

Solution

Sedangkan pada bagian ini, solusi akan permasalahan yang dihadapi dapat dipecahkan.

Pada beberapa karangan berjenis ini diperkenalkan pula satu struktur akhir yang bersifat Optional (pilihan), bagian itu adalah; 

Reorientation

Bagian ini menjelaskan hikmah atau pelajaran yang dapat kita ambil.

THE STORY OF TOBA LAKE

Once upon a time, there was a man who lived in north Sumatra. He lived in a simple hut in a farming field. He did some gardening and fishing for his daily life.

One day, while the man was fishing, he caught a big golden fish in his trap. It was the biggest fish that he ever had in his life. Surprisingly, this fish turned into a beautiful princess. He felt in love with her and proposed her to be his wife. She said; "Yes, but you have to promise not to tell anyone about the secret that I was once a fish, otherwise there will be a huge disaster". The man made the deal and they got married, lived happily and had a daughter.

Few years later, this daughter would help bringing lunch for her father out in the fields. One day, his daughter was so hungry and she ate his father’s lunch. Unfortunately, he found out and got really angry and shouted; “You damned daughter of a fish”. The daughter ran home and told her mother. The mother started tp cry. She felt sad that her husband said such thing and had broken his promise.

Then she told her daughter to run up to the hills because a huge disaster was about to come. When her daughter left, she prayed. Soon there was a big earthquake followed by non-stop pouring rain. The whole area got flooded and became Toba Lake. She turned into a fish again and the man became the island of Samosir.

Orientation

In the first paragraph we can see that the characters and the place are introduced. Orientation is about introducing and answer the questions of Who, Where, and When.

Complication

This structure can be found in the second and third paragraph. This is the interesting element when we read about the narrative text. In this part we can find the conflicts which evoke the reader to follow the problem that consist in this text while also finding the best solution or just wandering about the conflicts that exist in that story.

Solution

The last paragraph will be the solution of the story. It can be worse or better.
